Team Building that makes a difference!
Southern Sun's Riverside Lifestyle Resort, situated on the banks of the Vaal River, is the perfect venue for a business event, conference or teambuilding weekend. A few kilometers from Vanderbijlpark and only 45 minutes drive from Johannesburg, with its luscious manicured gardens, the Riverside Lifestyle Resort, previously known as Riverside Hotel and Conference Centre, is the ideal venue for conferences and team building activities and promises business guests homely comfort, culinary delights and efficient service.
The Riverside Lifestyle Resort's perfect medley of versatile venues ensure that multiple meetings can be staged simultaneously in 9 conference rooms, accommodating anything from 500 to 20 guests at a time. For banqueting needs – whether for intimate affairs or large conferences - the resort's catering team creates elegant menu options and tailor made dishes served in either indoor or outdoor venues. An array of sporting and leisure activities are on offer, including gorgeous sundowner cruises aboard the Liquid Lounge – a floating bar offering light menu options catering for groups of 40 to 120 delegates. Alternatively, the River Otter Cruiser is available for individuals or small parties.
"At the Riverside Lifestyle Resort we offer consistently high levels of service and quality. The combined offering of the tranquil elegance of the location, the service of a dedicated Conference Host and our "CAN DO" philosophy and flexibility guarantees a successful, enjoyable event," says Herman Muller, General Manager at the Riverside Lifestyle Resort.
Selected Southern Sun Lifestyle Resorts offer a range of community based team building projects, by creating opportunities and involving the community. The Riverside Lifestyle Resort is one of the resorts that offer Conferences with Meaning. "Through this initiative we involve our teams, clients and communities in a variety of activities and enable our guests to make a difference in bettering the world and lending a helping hand to those less fortunate and in need of assistance. Achieving something worthwhile has proved to unite a group more than any other team building activities" adds Herman.
A range of community based teambuilding opportunities are on offer, starting with physical adventures such as the "Cycle Adventure" where the group participates in a cycle challenge and then hand over the bicycles and helmets to needy school children to assist them with transport to school. The, "Plant a Tree" adventure consists of an Amazing Race-type activity where the competitors will collect fruit trees from nurseries in the area and plant them at a local school or orphanage.
If physical endurance is too much, the "Fix a Future" and "Build it up" activities are ideal. After a team building activity teams are rewarded with tools, paint, wood, screws and other components to do some much needed maintenance to classrooms and bathrooms. School desks, wooden toys, toy boxes, book shelves etc may be included in the "Build it up" activity.
"As one of Africa's leading hotel groups, Southern Sun strives to be the leaders in sustainable tourism and make a difference in the lives of South Africans in need. Our goal with this initiative is to offer partnership opportunities that provide businesses and groups with an avenue to achieve both their team building and community involvement goals. Providing children with the means to get to school, furniture for the school, maintenance at the school, fruit trees and vegetable gardens is a great start to reaching those goals" says Deon Viljoen, Operations Director Southern Sun Lifestyle Resorts.
"In addition to fostering business growth, we are perfectly positioned to promote the Vaal as a business and leisure destination, and to stimulate consciousness about improving social development and preserving our natural resources for all to enjoy," concludes Muller.
With lifestyle at its essence, The Riverside Lifestyle Resort promises to deliver quality, instill fun, engender a sense of family, and create great memories. All this amidst the wonders of nature and the benefits that some out-door adventure provides.
