Imagine yourself on one of the most exclusive golf estates in the world. You and nine other amateur golfers from the four corners of the globe have been jetted to the UK to play in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Individual World Final at the Walton Heath Golf Club and World Pairs Competition at the Royal Ascot Golf Club.
As if playing on two of the finest courses in the world weren’t enough, you’ve also been invited to participate in a special Invitation Tournament at the Royal Household Club at Windsor Castle – home to the Queen of England. And when you’ve had your fill of playing on a course where few mortals without blue blood coursing through their veins will ever have the chance to play, you’ll dine with members of the British royal family at a royal champagne reception and prizegiving dinner at Windsor Castle.
Well now you can. Your key to this golfer’s trip of a lifetime is your participation in Tsogo Sun’s 2009 Duke of Edinburgh Golf Tournament.
The 2009 tournament will take place over five regional golf days over a three month period. Your participation in any one of these regional legs of the Duke of Edinburgh Tournament gives you the chance of winning one of only five places in the final shootout at Pecanwood Golf and Country Estate in Gauteng on 2 June – where one player will walk away victorious!
Details of the individual regional golf days are as follows:
- The Ridge – Witbank Golf Course on 17 April
- Suncoast Casino and Entertainment World – Durban Country Club on 11 May

Under the patronage of His Royal Highness, Prince Edward, the Duke of Edinburgh Cup Golf Tournament was established to raise money for International Golf for Youth Limited, which supports youth projects internationally. Since its inception in 2000, the tournament, which attracts participation from over 10 countries around the world, has raised well over three million dollars for selected beneficiaries, including several local causes. Through their sponsorship Tsogo Sun Gaming and its five properties will contribute in excess of R700 000 to charities in their respective areas of South Africa. Montecasino recently donated a 14-seater vehicle valued at R230 000 to the Oasis Haven of Love Foundation, a Randburg-based home that care for children infected and affected by HIV and Aids, which was purchased with the proceeds and sponsorship of last years Duke of Edinburgh tournament.
“This is a unique opportunity for corporate South Africa to take a four-ball and stand the chance to win the memorable experience of your life while making a difference in the lives of underprivileged children all over the country,” says Steve Howell, General Manager of Montecasino. “Participating in this tournament is something that no amateur golfer can afford to pass up on.”
