Southern Sun will extend its intimate connection with warmth and vitality during this year’s ARISE African Fashion Week.
The hotel group’s inaugural swimwear show on Wednesday, 17 June at 21h30 at the Sandton Convention Centre, will showcase the creations of several South African swimwear designers including Craig Port, Dax Martin Swimwear, Love Water Love, and Tracy B. “Their creations reflect Southern Sun’s association with style , vibrancy and in numerous ways, our alignment with fashion and style is the perfect fit,” says Graham Wood, Managing Director, Southern Sun Hotels.
Through its participation in African Fashion Week, Southern Sun’s support for local fashion design in particular, and for the fashion industry more broadly, embodies its vision to expand its brand throughout the continent. Although the hotel group is intertwined with travel, holidays, fun and energy, it also regards itself as a facilitator for growth in Africa. “The world of fashion encompasses opportunities for entrepreneurship, job creation and economic development,” says Wood. “And African Fashion Week constitutes a platform to create awareness, foster investment and build businesses.”
Described as a woman on a mission to develop South Africa’s [and Africa’s] fashion industry, Dr Precious Moloi-Motsepe Chairperson for African Fashion International, endorses Southern Sun’s involvement. “As a brand with a vision to be the leading hotel group in Africa, Southern Sun recognises the need for investment in the growth of industry and regards this event as a mechanism to present an industry worthy of such investment.”
As models strut their stuff, parading some of the hottest swimwear for the season, Southern Sun’s support will be spurring so much more than mere fun in the sun.
