MasterChef SA is back!
Following the blockbuster success of an incredibly popular pilot season, M-Net has already commenced production of the second season of MasterChef SA – and the search is on for South Africa’s next culinary superstar.
In a dramatic twist, and as a tangible incentive which will inspire the new contestants to even greater heights, the latest round of auditions began at Montecasino, home to Deena Naidoo’s prestigious restaurant - Aarya, the coveted grand prize awarded to the popular winner of the first season.
Tsogo Sun, as the official hospitality and accommodation partner of MasterChef SA, is initiating a host of promotional activities at several of the Tsogo Sun hotels and entertainment destinations around the country. This is aimed at giving South African fans the opportunity to play an integral and exciting role as part of the countrywide MasterChef experience, as well as underscoring Tsogo Sun’s passion for excellence and commitment to supporting the world-class South African hospitality industry.
The second season of MasterChef SA promises to not only rival, but exceed the enormous popularity of the first. South Africans from all walks of life, inspired by the creativity and ingenuity of the previous season’s contestants, will be spurred on to even greater efforts as they compete for the prestigious title.
The reason for the show’s popularity is not hard to find: it enables anyone with flair, imagination, and perseverance to audition, whether they are capable of producing the finest haute cuisine, or are simply a self-proclaimed legend around the local braai. Viewers, too, are captivated by the personal and professional journeys undertaken by the successful contestants, and as the tension builds, find themselves cheering for their favourites.
Benny Masekwameng, celebrity chef at Tsogo Sun, will once again feature as one of the three MasterChef judges. Chef Benny is the embodiment of Tsogo Sun’s commitment to the scope and importance of the MasterChef SA competition – and as one of South Africa’s best-loved culinary personalities, Benny will be sure to inject his own unique brand of humour, insightful critique, and professional guidance into the series. Benny’s own story is the stuff from which fairytales are made: childhood inspiration from his working mother who provided meals for nearby construction workers, years of practical experience as a catering manager, and the task of preparing exclusive dishes for overseas South African embassies, all helped equip Benny for one of the most prestigious posts in the South African hospitality industry.
With auditions for the second season having taken place at the end of last year, it is off to a flying start, and Tsogo Sun is proud to be associated with the production.
“Tsogo Sun is delighted to be partnering with M-Net in this hit show as a full sponsor,” says Rob Collins, Tsogo Sun Chief Marketing Officer. “ The partnership with MasterChef SA is a meeting of like-minded brands, and is a natural fit for us. It’s also a testament to Tsogo Sun’s commitment in supporting South Africa’s world-class hospitality industry.”
MasterChef Season Two will be airing on M-Net Channel 101, from 11 June 2013 to 11 September 2013.
